Extractions & Wisdom Teeth, Niagara Falls Dentist

Safe Tooth Removals

Wisdom teeth can potentially become crowded, crooked or infected. Consequently, they may trigger throbbing pain. If this is true for you, your dentist in Niagara Falls can assess whether it can be saved or if a tooth extraction is necessary.

A tooth extraction is a common surgical procedure that must be performed by your dentist with care and safety in mind. This procedure is only recommended if a less invasive treatment option would prove insufficient in resolving your issue.

The dentist can prescribe oral sedation prior to your procedure. They will carefully remove the tooth from its socket in the bone, then provide detailed post-operative instructions for after-care and recovery.

Wisdom Tooth Removal

For most people, wisdom teeth typically erupt between the ages of 17 and 25. These are the last set of molars to emerge in the back corners of a normal adult mouth.

This third set of teeth may crowd out other teeth as they develop and is not always functional. They may also cause problems with your oral hygiene. In these circumstances, your dentist may recommend having them removed.

Repairing Excessive Damage

Your dentist will work to save a tooth whenever possible. However, injury, excessive decay, gum disease or other specific circumstances may make an extraction necessary.

If a damaged tooth needs to be extracted, your dentist will discuss tooth replacement options with you. These may include dental crowns, dental bridges or dentures.
